Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Vandalia-Butler City Schools! We value the relationship between community members, parents, and our schools. In accordance with Ohio Revised Code, all volunteers must undergo a background check. You will not be able to attend fieldtrips or volunteer with students until the background check is completed.
The school district has set aside limited funds to cover the cost of background checks for individuals who plan to regularly volunteer during school hours. Please contact your school's Principal to be included on the list of regular volunteers. They will evaluate the need for additional volunteers and discuss those options with you at that time.
Individuals who wish to only volunteer one time or outside the school day must pay a fee of $20 to cover the cost for each background check. The district has partnered with Secure Volunteer to perform background checks. You will log into the site using the link below, complete the form, enter your payment information and submit it for processing. The process normally takes a few days before the district recieves results. If everything looks good we will approve your application to volunteer. Secure Volunteer will send you an ID badge to wear while volunteering to identify that you have gone through the check. We will also share a list of those successful with our buildings internally as a double check.
