Fifty Butler High School sophomores and juniors are feeling a little tougher after participating in the Marine Corps Leadership Seminar Monday, Oct. 3. Coaches and advisors nominated the students to take part in the half-day event. Last year, memers of the Class of 2016 and 2017 participated in the seminar.
The day begain in the BHS Lecture Room with a discussion about the Marine Corps' 14 leadership traits and 11 leadership principles. Students and session leaders discussed the ideas and worked in groups to solve problems and to decide how to best approach or respond to various scenarios, using the traits and principles.
Then, it was out to the football field to participate in a variety of fitness exercises focused on leadership, teamwork and character.
