Transporting our youth with safety and security
Our bus drivers and aides strive to provide safe and secure transportation for our students. The district’s 37 square miles are covered by 25 routes, and our drivers travel an average of 56 miles per route. That equates to 250,920 miles a year for our fleet!
We keep our buses well maintained both to protect student safety and to keep costly repairs in check. In addition, we have put into place several practices to reduce harmful emissions and improve fuel efficiency. These efforts earned the district a designation as an Ohio Green Fleet in August 2009.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why has the bus stop time changed from what was in the newspaper/web site?
At the start of each school year, we include in our bus routes all students who live in the bus route area. Some of these students will not be using the school bus service. Two weeks after school starts, we remove the stops for students who do not ride the bus. This changes the bus route/time. The students are notified by the bus driver if the change is no more than five minutes. If the change amounts to more than a five-minute difference, notices are sent home.
Why can't my child wait in the car for the bus?
First, for the purposes of student safety, all students need to be at the bus stop and visible five minutes before the scheduled stop time. This rule is essential to prevent accidents that result from students running after the bus. In addition, if the student is in a car, the bus driver may think the driver is taking the student to school and pull away.
What happens if my child leaves something on the bus?
Most lost or misplaced items are kept under the bus driver’s care for a few days. If the items are not picked up by the student within a few days, they will be placed in the lost-and-found at the bus garage. The exception is instruments and expensive electronic devices like mobile phones and MP3 players. These items are kept protected in the bus garage as soon as they are found. To reclaim an item that is at the bus garage, please call 415-6691.
