Screening for superior cognitive identification is conducted during the spring of second grade and fifth grade. Screening for Reading and Math identification is obtained through NWEA testing in the fall, winter, and spring.
Gifted services are provided as follows:
- Differentiation strategies in the regular classroom for grades 3-8
- High cognitive clusters for grades 4-8
- Advanced math classes for grades 6-8
- Accelerated, honors, and AP classes for grades 9-12
Enrichment services at teacher request are also provided for grades K-5. All teaching staff in grades K-12 have training in differentiated instruction.
All identified students in grades 3-8 are given a Written Education Plan (WEP). Students in grades 9-12 who are taking an accelerated, honors or AP classes in their identified areas also have a WEP.
