Two-Hour Delays and Early Dismissal Procedures

In event of a school delay or closing, the district makes announcements on:

Two-Hour Delays


In the event of a two-hour delay, all students including kindergarten will report on the schedule outlined below.  B.A.S.E. childcare will be available for registered students from 8:30 a.m. until the start of school.  In the event that school is cancelled after the announcement of a two-hour delay, the B.A.S.E. program will be closed. Breakfast will only be served at Morton on days with two-hour delays.

Two-Hour Delay Start Schedule
Butler High School 9:30 a.m. (exam weeks create exceptions)
Morton Middle School 9:30 a.m.
Smith Middle School 10:30 a.m.
Elementary School 11:00 a.m.
A.M. Kindergarten 11:00 a.m - 12:50 p.m.
P.M. Kindergarten 1:40 p.m. - 3:25 p.m.
Preschool A.M. closed, P.M. normal schedule
CTC 9:40 a.m.
ESC East 10:00 a.m.
ESC West 10:20 a.m.

 

All bus transportation will be delayed two hours including buses for PRIVATE/PAROCHIAL SCHOOLS.  Dismissal times remain unchanged.

Early Dismissals


In the rare event that weather conditions deteriorate during the course of the day and an early dismissal is warranted, parents will receive a phone notification through our One Call Now system.  The call will be to the primary number and other numbers designated on the most recent student verification forms.  Television and radio announcements will also be made.  When possible the following schedule will be utilized for early dismissals:

Butler High School 11:15 a.m.
Morton Middle School 11:15 a.m.
Smith Middle School 12:00 p.m.
Elementary School 12:30 p.m.
Preschool 11:45 a.m.
CTC 11:00 a.m.
ESC East 11:00 a.m.
ESC West 11:20 a.m.
St. Christopher 11:30 a.m.
Troy Christian 11:30 a.m.
Miami Montessori 11:20 a.m.

 

In the event of an early dismissal there will be NO P.M. KINDERGARTEN, P.M. PRESCHOOL, OR B.A.S.E.

In the event of severe weather, it is possible to have early dismissals beyond the half-day point.  In such instances kindergarten students will be dismissed at the same time as the elementary schools and will ride home with elementary school students.
