Board of Education

Elected from the community by the community, the Board of Education is charged with charting a course for student achievement. Board members approve the policies and programs that bolster classroom learning and support the district’s athletics and arts programs. Their decisions ultimately affect the district’s long-term success and, by extension, the entire community.

To make the best, most educated decisions, the district’s board members spend countless hours of personal time on research, training, and seminars. They work with parents, educators, and other community members to ensure the district’s vision and direction meet stakeholders’ expectations. They ask informed questions about student programming and district finances. And they check that the district’s initiatives are in sync with our five-year strategic plan; VBCSD 2021: Connecting Aviators...Our Children, Our Community.

Board of Education Meetings

The Board of Education generally meets at 5:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month for regular business meetings and on the second Monday for work session meetings. Regular business meetings and work sessions are typically held at the Board of Education office (500 South Dixie Drive).

Addressing the Board

The Board welcomes public input. Time is set aside at every regular business meeting to ask questions or comment on district policies, procedures, and events. Please note that the Board of Education may not respond to your questions or concerns during the meeting.
