BASE (Latchkey)

B.A.S.E. (Before and After School Experience) is a program offered at Vandalia-Butler City Schools providing before and after school childcare for families of students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade.

The district will offer services for both Demmitt Elementary School and Smith Intermediate School. Depending on the number of registrations, BASE services may also be offered at Helke Early Learning Center.

*Important Information for Smith Intermediate Families
Smith Intermediate School students will attend BASE at Demmitt Elementary School and will be transported from Demmitt to Smith via school transportation in the morning and from Smith to Demmitt for afternoon care.

Registrations will be accepted through June 15, 2026. Registration fees will be applied to PaySchools Central accounts within five business days of registration. All registration fees must be paid by June 30, 2026 for the registration to be considered complete.
